Hostfamily
" Hi I am your Hostmom", said the email in my account... I called my dad "aaaaaaaaaaaaah I think my hostmom just wrote me, is that true, should I read it?"
... That day I met my hostfamily for the first time in my life...well via email! I was so happy, excited, but in a certain way I got scared.
This feelings are totally common and you don't have to wonder about it.
I wanted to talk to them, so I called and nobody was answering the phone.
"Are they not home... or did they not want to talk to me?"
I had been so scared to call again... should I or shouldn't I.
Couple days later I talked to my host brother... He was so curious and cute :D
I already knew I am going to have fun with him.
"What should I bring as a gift?"
Well that is a good question... I thought it should be something personal and resembling my country too.
Find out what the interests of your family are... and then go shopping, with friends and family and decide what your heart is saying.
As long as you put some thoughts in it... your host family will appreciate it and be happy.
My personal experience with my host family is very positive. We are getting along really good. We are having some discussions when our point of view and culure issues are been discussed. I argueed with them too. But as long as you talk about it and everybody is going to calm down, don't be worried!
If you don't get along with you family at all... don't hesistate... call your coordinator and talk about it.
