Should I do an exchange student year?
When did I make the decision to go to Canada and why?
My teacher came one day to school with some flyers for an information day in a school in Frankfurt. There had been 20 Organisations ish... how should I find the right one and do I want to go? What issues could a year abroad have?
Then this one stand made the difference, I had such a nice talk and I made my decision. I wanted to gain as much experiences as possible, get more independent, leave my home for some time behind, experiences new things and new people in particular. I wanted to know a different school system and learn a different language :D
When I came home, at that time I was 13 years old and I still had to wait 2 years, I asked my parents if I would have permission to go. They did not believe me that I was serious at that time. But I was!!!
6 Month later I had a serious talk with both of my parents, my mom did not see the need in it, my dad instead was so convinced.
Well my will was strong enough and then we looked for the perfect organisation for me. I found them and now I am here in Canada.
I can consider everybody who is thinking about an exchange student year, that YOU have to make the decision. Nobody should influence you. Because YOU are the person who will be away from home for several month.
If this will be the best year of your life, depends of you!
